Will the lucky stars fall in favor of the Pinstripes this season? It might be the leading question buzzing around the Pinstripes’ officials. The New York Yankees’ two major supporting pitchers, including Gerrit Cole, are bound to start their season on the IL list. However, despite doing the rehab, the star pitcher continues to extend his supporting hands, well, not directly but indirectly.
Pointed out by the team’s manager, Aaron Boone, the star pitcher, remained sidelined for the opening day following his arm injury. However, he donned his mentorship self to support his team. So, what are his strategies for being one of the massive indirect supporting pitchers?

During a Zoom news conference, the Bronx Bombers manager, Aaron Boone, claims that Gerrit Cole continues to support his team even from the IL. “He’s he is invested every day of the week,” remarked Boone, after revealing that Cole is actively traveling with the team despite being in rehab. He also reaffirms his faith in Cole, stating, “I would expect him to be very similar to how he is on the days he’s not pitching, which is completely invested, completely hooked up.”

Gerrit Cole revealed that he has been suffering from nerve inflammation and edema in his pitching elbow, as remarked by MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. During spring training, he complained of arm fatigue, which became a nerve inflammation and edema after conducting a series of medical tests. However, he has prescribed a minimum of three to four weeks rest, rehabs, and non-surgical treatments, marking his availability from April.
But the Yankees’ nightmare doesn’t end here as another center of anticipation of the team, DJ LeMahieu, ended up on the injury list ahead of the regular season. With an uncertain timetable for his recovery, Boone stated, “That pain is still in there,” highlighting his stress. However, he did not allow the fateful situation to take over, as with his two remarkable faces sidelined, he made another addition to the team just ahead of the regular season to bolster the team’s strength.

Will another addition bring fate to the New York Yankees?
As Cole and DJ were turned down for the opening day following their respective injuries, the team’s manager, Boone, initiated his search for another fitting option. And seemingly, he found one as he recently signed Jon Berti. With a record of batting .294 with .748 OPS and 103 OPS+ in 133 games in the previous year, he can be counted as a perfect addition to the team at this juncture.

The 34-year-old was added to the Yankees troop in a three-team deal where Minor leaguer John Cruz was sent to the Marlins, followed by the Yankees trade of Ben Rortvedt to the Tampa Bay Rays. Apart from that, Shane Sasaki was also sent to the Marlins, according to the New York Post Joel Sherman. The deal indeed added an extra feather to the Yankees’ hat in the form of the six-year MLB veteran Berti, an appropriate addition to the Yankees’ bench. What are your thoughts about this?
