No words are enough to explain the season Aaron Judge is having. In all honesty, the Yankees wouldn’t be leading the East Division with a fixed postseason berth if not for Judge’s home run frenzy this year. Notably, while Judge leads the list of home runs with 59, the Yanks stand at the top of the East Division with a comfortable lead above the Blue Jays.

Yesterday, as the Yanks took on the Brewers in the last game of the series, Judge smashed home runs number 58 and 59. With these two homers, he’s now only two good hits away from Roger Maris’ 61. After the game, teammate and five-time All-Star, Gerrit Cole spoke about Judge’s performance and his chase to 61.
Gerrit Cole on teammate and 2022 Home Run King
As reported by Chris Kirschner, Yankee columnist for The Athletic, Gerrit Cole talked about the bleachers’ atmosphere at Yankee Stadium as Judge approaches number 61.
Gerrit Cole on what Yankee Stadium will be like for Aaron Judge's HR chase: "They're going to be over the edge, slapping the bench, beer's going to be flying everywhere. It's probably not going to be a child friendly environment in the bleachers. It's gonna be nuts."

Cole said, “They’re going to be over the edge, slapping the bench, beer’s going to be flying everywhere. It’s probably not going to be a child friendly environment in the bleachers. It’s gonna be nuts.”
Now, the Home Run King award for Judge is just a formality that will be awarded to him with time. But, there is another award that Judge could be potentially chasing.
Can Aaron Judge win the Triple Crown?
The batting Triple Crown is an achievement when a batter leads the league in three categories:
- Home Runs
- Batting Average
- Runs Batted In
Notably, Miguel Cabrera from the Detroit Tigers won the last Triple Crown Award in 2012. Since then, there hasn’t been a single batsman that has led through all the statistics.

However, this year, in 2022, Judge is leading in homers and RBIs with a significant lead. The only domain left for him to catch up is his batting average, which is currently at 0.316 and at number six. Freddie Freeman from the Dodgers is at number one with 0.331.
