The Yankees took the time to mourn the loss of a crucial building piece that had been part of the Pinstripes’ building fabric. Although the cause of death wasn’t revealed, the entire MLB community stepped forward to remember Rose, who identified pitching talent and character that perfectly aligned with “what we want on the Yankees.”

A few hours back, the Yankees official handle posted to X (formerly Twitter) to mark the passing of their Executive Advisor, Pacific Rim Division, George Rose. While initially bought into the fold as a Hideki Irabu translator in 1997, Rose became a vital part of the Yankees organization. After the demise of this notable personality, the team conveyed a sincere message, “Kind, warm and humble, George Rose was unfailingly gracious and always a welcome presence to those around him.

Thanking him for his role in the Yankees’ World Series wins in 1998 and 1999, the statement mentions that Rose was a crucial member of the team fold. In a statement released by the team, it is mentioned, “He was the driving force in building out our operations in Japan, utilizing an incredible ability to facilitate cross-cultural understanding.

In a genuinely classy move, the Yankees have gone beyond just Rose’s role as an executive, also acknowledging his contribution. “George was also a man of great faith and the rare person about whom no one could say a bad word. He will be deeply missed by his friends and colleagues at both the Yankees and Yomiuri and by all who had the privilege of spending time with him.

Baseball Community Reacts to the Passing of the Yankees’ Building Block

In a testament to Rose’s effect on the baseball community, it is clear from the reactions that continue to pour in from all quarters. Noted journalist Jack Curry also posted a short video as a tribute to the now-passed Rose with the caption, “George Rose was kind, classy and professional. Every time I had a conversation with him, I learned something.

Baseball columnist at NY Post, John Heyman, too was quick to mark his respects to the departed. Only 57, Rose is a loss felt all around the baseball community.

YES Network and Bob Lorenz also published their tribute to Rose, who returned to the United States in 2010 and started serving as an advisor.

The tribute also highlighted the significance of the office he established in Japan, which played a crucial role in “securing sponsorships for the team and its new stadium.”

Some baseball fans also came forward with their condolences to the George’s friends and family, “RIP to him and prayers up for his family and friends.”
