In a recent incident, Angels’ catcher, Logan O’Hoppe suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder. This has left the team without their rising star and best catcher. This led them to show interest in former Yankees’ catcher Gary Sanchez, who is currently a free agent. Sanchez is earning interest from several teams after opting out of his contract with the San Francisco Giants. He has shown flashes of potential but has been unable to play well on a consistent basis. MLB insider Jon Heyman reported the Angels’ interest in Sanchez via Twitter.

In a Tweet, Heyman said, “Angels are among teams with interest in Gary Sanchez. Their promising catcher Logan O’Hoppe, off to a big start, is out with a shoulder injury. Manager Phil Nevin and hitting coach Marcus Thames know Sanchez well from his Yankees days.”
