With a longstanding passion for baseball and the desire to stay connected to the game, MLB great Derek Jeter, with a group of investors, bought the MLB franchise Miami Marlins. After months of trying, Captain Clutch finalized the deal in 2017 and assumed the role of Marlins CEO.

After becoming the CEO of the Marlins, Derek Jeter shifted his whole family to Miami to make things easier for the team and himself. However, things did not pan out as well as Jeter had hoped. And hence, Jeter sold the four percent stake he had in the team in 2022. Notably, the failure of this Marlins deal had put an adverse effect not only on Derek but also on his family. Therefore, Jeter’s supermodel wife, Hannah Jeter, once made a shocking revelation.

Becoming Marlins CEO and shifting to Miami was one of the biggest parts of Jeter’s life. Hence, the details of the role were naturally included in his seven-part docuseries, The Captain.
