After dominating the entire MLB in the first half of the 2022 MLB season, the New York Yankees have become probably the worst side in the entire American League. Given their blazing start, the Yankees were the favorite to win the World Series this year. However, they have been nothing but a disappointment after the All-Star break.
Recently, the Yankees suffered a series defeat against a mid-table team, the LA Angels. With Shohei Ohtani shining from the plate, the Yankees pitchers had no option to stop the Angels? two-way phenom.

If not for?Aaron Judge, the Pinstripes do not have a single player in their squad who can perform consistently, neither from the plate nor the mound. Even their star pitcher?Gerrit Cole, who has the most strikeouts in the current season, ended up being smacked for a home run against?Shohei Ohtani.
How far the New York Yankees can go with this intent?
If the Yankees continue to play like this, they will not be able to do much in the postseason games. The same Yankees were a threat to the opposing teams a while back, and now they have become an easy target for any MLB side.

In August, the New York Yankees played 28 games and won only ten. At once, the Aaron Boone-led team was the first team to win 70 games this season. But now, they are?struggling?for a win in the American League.

The Yanks have the second-worst record in August in AL. It speaks volumes about how poor they have been after the All-Star break. Given their current form, they are no longer a contender for the World Series this year.
Shohei Ohtani shines from the plate

When this series started, Shohei Ohtani was clear with his intent. The Angels star hammered two home runs in the series and played a crucial role in winning the series. Currently, Ohtani has 30 home runs from the plate and 176 strikeouts from the mound this season.
Ohtani is the first of his kind to have such magical figures as a two-way player. And if he continues to play like this for the next 20-25 games, the Angels? star might retain the AL MVP 2022.
