Fernando Tatis Jr., the rising superstar of baseball, has been facing backlash over the recent PED ban by Major League Baseball. Not long but just a week ago, the San Diego Padres star shortstop was about to make his comeback from a wrist injury. And now, Tatis will have to wait for at least 80 MLB games to play his next baseball game.
The PED ban must be painful for Tatis. However, it is the Padres who are in more loss here. Considering his immense talent, the Padres re-signed Tatis on a long-term contract for a whopping $340 million contract.

And Tatis, on the other hand, already has a multi-year contract on his hand. Dating back to a year, when Tatis signed for the Padres, the star shortstop revealed how he spent his first million from his historic $340 million contract.

Earlier in 2021, when Fernando Tatis Jr. signed the long-term contract with the San Diego Padres, he also received $10 million as a signing bonus. And the superstar shortstop revealed what he spent on first from his expansive contract.
Being a Dominican Republican citizen, Tatis loves to wear jewelry. The Padres shortstop spent almost $300k on pendants, Cartier, chains, and watches. And being a sports person, it is most common to own an expensive car.
Yes! The 23-year-old shortstop bought an Audi Q8. He also added some customized features to the car. It cost him a total of $220,000. Notably, signing his first long-term contract was a big deal for the Dominican Republican shortstop. So, he also gifted his family members an Adidas shoe and clothes, which cost $15,000.
?When I finished my contract with Adidas, I went to the store. I bought shoes for every single family I have, and clothes, hoodies… all the combos for everybody,? Fernando Tatis Jr. said via GQ Sports.
The Padres shortstop is a man of people
Apart from buying expensive gifts for his family members, Tatis also donated a huge chunk of his first million to needy people in his hometown. The Padres superstar spent $250,000 on charity.
Now comes Tatis? biggest and probably the most important investment. When any young kid starts earning, their priority is to buy a decent home for their family. And Fernando Tatis Jr. was no different.

The Padres shortstop bought his father?s dream house for $800,000. ?My dad was seeing this house. And he told me that was a dream house for him. It was beautiful… When I finished the contract, the first thing I told them? we are getting that house,? said Tatis.
When will Tatis play his next MLB game?

Notably, Tatis missed more than half of the 2022 MLB season because of a wrist injury caused by a motorcycle accident. And now, when MLB has found him guilty of using PEDs (performance-enhancing drugs), he will miss the entire 2022 MLB season.
