But the legendary outfielder recently underwent a massive medical procedure and has provided positive updates regarding his recovery.

Fred Lynn is recovering well from surgery

Fred Lynn recently announced that he was undergoing partial knee replacement surgery on both knees. One day after the surgery, he provided an update stating that he was feeling ok. But his most recent update is extremely positive, as he seems ready to go home. The 71-year-old retired MLB legend seems to be recovering well.?

In a tweet, Lynn said, ?Ready to go home. Two new knees for my birthday.. what will I get next year? #feelinggood Thanks for all the well wishes. #Appreciation.? The Boston Red Sox legend, posted this on his birthday, shortly after the surgery. He thanked fans for their support and seems to be in high spirits following the procedure.?

It has been 33 years since Lynn retired from baseball and some people may forget just how good he was. From the mid-70s to the early-80s, he was one of the best outfielders in the league. Furthermore, he showed a lot of skill on both sides of the game, as a batter and a fielder.?

Fred Lynn picked up numerous accolades over his career

Over a 17-year MLB career, Fred Lynn picked up many accolades and honors. He was a 9-time All-Star, a 4-time Gold Glove winner, and a 1-time AL MVP. He achieved history with the Red Sox in 1975, becoming the first player to win the Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season.?
