In a blink of an eye, almost half of the season of Major League Baseball is now over. Every team has played over 60 games by now. While some of the best teams are struggling to find their ground, the underdogs have taken the baseball world by a spin. Before the All-Star break in 2022, under Cohen’s leadership, the Mets won 58 games. However, this year, the Kings of Queens, New York Mets, are in no way close to this number. Out of the 60+ games that the Mets played this season, they have won less than half of them. Notably, the team is underperforming, putting even more pressure on the players.
Therefore, most recently, Mets’ shortstop Francisco Lindor spoke of why things are going the way they are for the team.
How has the New York Mets played recently?

The Mets, right now, are on a losing streak, having lost seven games consecutively. Notably, this is one of the worst records for a team as big as the Mets. Seems like the stars aren’t aligning for the team.
Meanwhile, when Lindor got asked about the reason behind the Mets’ subpar play, he took some of the responsibility for the same on his shoulders. Talking to SNYtv, Francisco said, “I don’t know. I wanna say it’s part of the season. But I’ve been saying that way too long. It’s time to turn the page. We have to be better. I have to be better.”
Francisco Lindor when asked why things are going the way they are for the Mets recently:

It is indeed time to turn the page for the better. The Mets have two more games ahead of them against the Pittsburgh Pirates. And probably, they won’t lose those two the way they did their first one. However, since baseball is a team sport, the whole team’s performance does not and should not depend on only one player.
Mets fans sympathize with their shortstop!
Fans on Twitter agree with Lindor that taking responsibility is the right thing to do. But they also think that the Mets, right now, have way too many expectations on them.
Have a look at how Mets fans are reacting to Francisco Lindor’s confession:
Everyone is way too hard on this team. Tough to go out there when millions of peoples’ frustration and expectation is hanging over you. Look at the tears in his eyes. They care more than we do.

This was one of his best interviews in the 3 years he’s been here. The accountability and awareness is nice to hear for once

Now see that's the kind of mature answer I'd expect buck to give when he's interviewed. Much respect to you @Lindor12BC for the accountability shown here. I truly think there needs to be a team meeting about accountability and what needs to be done and what needs to end💯

If the Mets are able to turn it around, it will be because of him #LGM https://t.co/Il4EjIxoDJ

While the fans know that all of it is not on Lindor, they are happy to see someone taking accountability for their team’s performance. Like the two sides of a coin, there are also a few baseball fans who still are quite mad because of the team’s performance.
