The New York Yankees are no stranger to high expectations. As one of the most decorated and successful franchises in MLB, the team is familiar and expected to show up not just in playoffs, but the bigger prize- championships. However, the current manager Aaron Boone hasn’t been able to make a mark in the World Series. Despite his achievements in the division, there is still a concerning omission in his CV- the World Series. Amidst all this, the obvious question that arises is, should he continue with the Yankees?

Boone’s tenure as Yankees’ manager has been a mix of highs and lows. Under his leadership, the team has consistently contended for playoff spots, reaching the postseason in all but one of his seasons. Despite the lack of a World Series win, there is growing support for an extension of his contract. Emmanuel Berbari, a baseball analyst, recently made his feelings clear in a passionate statement about Boone’s future.

“Four more years, Aaron Boone. I don’t want a lame duck entering this season, I want a mandate for Boone,” Berbari stated, citing Boone’s consistent ability to get the most out of his teams year after year. He even mentioned how this year’s roster, for the first time in Boone’s tenure, had championship-potential players, “This is the first time Aaron has entered the season with the best roster on paper in the AL. Boone has done more with less, and now with a roster that has the potential to go to the World Series as an AL favorite, he got them to the ALCS.”

Berbari went on to emphasize the importance of Boone’s leadership in shaping the team’s future, particularly in light of Aaron Judge’s prime years. “He has the vote of confidence in the room, including from the guy who most supports him, Aaron Judge.” Whether or not, Boone can deliver, the call for ‘four more years’ gains relevance. Many including Berbari believe that extending Boone’s contract is the key to unlocking a World Series title in the future.
