The New York Yankees, while at one point poised to take on the AL Wild Card Spot, have since crumbled. Losing to the Orioles, Astros and the Marlins in consecutive series, saw the Yankees take a tumble in the standings from only 2.5 games behind the AL Wild Card Spot to now 5.5 games behind.

While several have taken aim at the New York Yankees’ side, the Bronx faithful seem to have determined that blame lies at the feet of the bullpen. Some fans have singled out Luis Severino, who is having a shocking season.

Severino is 2-7 in his starts so far with a shocking 8.06 ERA, below the standards expected from a pitcher taking the mound in Pinstripes. But it’s not just the starters that have been underperforming, the rotation particularly has not been the most efficient at preventing opposition hitters.

The Yankees’ batting has shown some signs of life after the return of star slugger Aaron Judge, but the bullpen rotation is now failing the team’s attempts to maintain an impressive run. The fans have clarified that they expect more. Some fans even took to social media to express their disappointment.

While Severino did not start on the right, the fans aren’t holding their breath for a breakout season from the pitcher, especially with the in form Atlanta Braves up next. Yankees fans have never been the most hopeful bunch, but with performances not reflecting their true strength, some fans did not fail to exaggerate.

The reaction comes strong against the Yankees’ recent shock loss at the hands of the Miami Marlins. Despite leading the game by as much as 5-1 at a time, the Yankees rotation conceded 5 in the final innings to hand the Marlins an 8-7 win on the night.

With Severino taking the mound, some fans were quick to predict almost video game like score-lines for the upcoming encounter.
