While talking to baseball analysts in 2018, A-Rod admitted that Ohtani was making the MLB look easy and that he was performing very incredibly well. This was during an appearance on MLB Whip Around in 2018. The Japanese sensation was in his rookie season at the time and was showing a lot of promise.
A-Rod said “You know, he’s making a mockery of the greatest league in the world. I mean someone has to tell him that he’s not in Newport Highschool playing. I mean he’s making the League look like high school. And, and, this is an amazing story but the folks at home, to understand how difficult it is to hit at this level. And also to pitch, and be able to dominate. It is something like I’ve never seen before.”

In 2018, Ohtani won the Rookie of the Year award after a fantastic season with the Angels. He became the first player since Babe Ruth to record 10 pitching appearances and 20 home runs in a single season.
