The never-ending fiasco of Oakland Athletics has finally taken a turn. But is the turn in favor or against the Athletics fanbase? Recently, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred sat for an interview with Time Magazine. Notably, one of the essential interview topics was the Reverse Boycott, that took place days ago at Oakland Coliseum. Soon as Manfred got the chance, he made some statements that appeared to blame the A’s fans for their situation. And recently, Manfred got a sleek reply for his comments on the Athletics moving to Vegas.

Most recently, the former mayor of Oakland, Jean Quan, took to her official Twitter handle to expose some of the alleged lies by the MLB Commissioner. While doing so, Quan did not hold back her feeling for Manfred’s “shameful dismissal.”

Earlier this year, news came of a family of possums living inside the broadcasting booth of the visiting franchise in Oakland Coliseum. Notably, the news attracted hefty criticism of the conditions of the Stadium. Following this, another piece of news came up of the Athletics moving from Oakland to Las Vegas, Nevada. Ever since the latter took place, A’s fans started to protest at stopping the move from happening. Doing so, the fans organized a “Reverse Boycott” where they filled the Stadium with a total of over 27,000 fans.

The protest was successful but resulted in a “shameful dismissal” from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. It is because, while appreciating the fans’ ability to pull off such a historic moment, he said that it did not make up for a “decade of inaction.” This resulted in the former mayor of Oakland speaking up and exposing Manfred’s lies about not being able to keep the A’s where they are right now.

Taking to Twitter, Quan listed pointers of how Manfred had multiple options for A’s to stay where they were. But instead of exploring them, he and A’s owner, John Fisher, got cold feet and thus came the announcement of the move to Vegas.

What did Manfred say about the Reverse Boycott?

As per ESPN’s Joon Lee, last week, Manfred had made some infuriating comments on Athletics’ possible move to Vegas. Manfred says“The real question is, what is it Oakland was prepared to do? There is no Oakland offer. OK? They never got to a point where they had a plan to build a stadium at any site. And it’s not just John Fisher. The community has to provide support.” However, later on, the MLB commissioner said these words were poured out of context.
