The Toronto Blue Jays are all set to face the New York Mets for a three-game series starting on Friday. While the Blue Jays look like a formidable team this year, the latest news coming from the center is that a former Blue Jays player will likely return as a coach for the team. Not every baseball player’s path to becoming a coach is easy. Players have to grind through years, performing well as players and leaders, to keep their chances of becoming a coach open. And that’s what Jay Jackson did!

After recently announcing his retirement, Jay Jackson might be considering a coaching comeback with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The former Blue Jays’ regular-season career has been moderate, as he went 7-4 with a 4.43 ERA, 104 games, 113.2 innings pitched, 136 strikeouts, and a 1.23 WHIP. But age is not on his side anymore, given that he is already 37 years old, and there are uncertainties over his performance in the coming years.

After 17 seasons in MLB, Jackson finally announced his retirement, saying,This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but I’ve been so blessed. I am hanging up my glove and cleats. I got to live a dream, for 17 years of my life, that I thought I would never wake up from.

While emotional and reflective, his statement may have also hinted at what’s next.

Well, not being able to get another contract was one of the reasons behind his retirement call. However, going by his interest in becoming a baseball coach, Jay Jackson has been in discussions with Ross Atkins. “I’ve actually reached out to Ross Atkins to see if there’s any way I could help the Blue Jays org and come up to Toronto as well so hopefully I’ll hear back from him,” he said.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jay Jackson's coaching spark the Blue Jays to maintain their winning streak against the Mets?

Have an interesting take?

Looks like Jackson might just be trading his glove for a clipboard. The signs are pointing toward a future in coaching, possibly starting with the minor leaguers. And honestly? That wouldn’t be anything new for the Blue Jays. Remember when Kevin Kiermaier stepped in as the outfield specialist coach? Yeah, they’re open to bringing their vets into the fold.

But while the chatter around coaching roles continues, one thing’s clear. Toronto needs to stay hot. So the big question is, how do the Blue Jays keep that win streak alive?

Toronto Blue Jays are looking to continue their winning streak

The Toronto Blue Jays have already won their first four games with a 5-2 record. However, it cannot be denied that they have luck on their side, which paved the way for their win in the last few games. The Toronto Blue Jays are the only team to score 32 runs in the American League and allowed 31 runs as well, which is by far the fourth highest in the American League and seventh highest in baseball. But there’s a problem!

Sure, Vlad Jr. hasn’t brought the fireworks yet—no homers in seven games isn’t what fans expected. But George Springer’s heating up, and he picked the perfect time to deliver with a clutch bomb that helped the Blue Jays take down the Nationals. Add Andrés Giménez’s steady presence and Bo Bichette’s sizzling bat (.310 average, .754 OPS), and suddenly, Toronto’s offense is clicking. With all the right pieces falling into place, don’t be surprised if the Jays ride this wave to a five-game win streak.
