Advice From Experienced Derek Jeter to Young Aaron Judge

Although Aaron Judge is a big name now, the case was different when he played in minors. The now-mature player lacked the experience back then and needed guidance. It eventually came as an unplanned meeting with then-Yankees captain Derek Jeter.

The incident is of time after Judge got injured and was undergoing rehab in Tampa. Interestingly, he got to meet Captain Clutch there, which worked like magic for the junior player.

On page 40, David Fischer describes this meeting. It reads, “While rehabbing the leg injury at the team’s minor-league facility, in Tampa, Florida, he found himself reporting to the same training room as star shortstop Derek Jeter, who was recovering from his own injury, a fractured ankle suffered in the 2012 postseason.”

It brought an opportunity for young phenom to grasp professional knowledge before making his MLB debut. He did exactly same and learned the basics to have longer baseball career.

In Jeter’s word, “Forget about what happened the day before. Everyone is going to have ups and downs. You keep grinding it out, stay consistent, that’s the key to a long career.”
