What did Derek Jeter say as Albert Pujols approaches 700 homers?
While Albert Pujols broke records all through his MLB life, his career witnessed a new light in 2022. No one expected Pujols to near A-Rod at 696 and in extension, 700-lifetime homers. Naturally, given his past decline in form and increasing age, Pujols was away from the public radar.
However, everyone was in for a surprise. Former Yankees captain and five-time World Champion Derek Jeter reaches out to Albert Pujols filled with praises. He said, “I’m a big fan of Albert Pujols, how he’s represented the game, how he represents himself, the consistency he’s had over time. And to see his last little push here at the end of his career, it’s fun to watch.”
Markedly, as Derek Jeter is one of the greatest shortstops to play the game, any words coming from him would mean a lot and successfully validate rookies or veterans.
A-Rod applauds Pujols as well
42-year-old Pujols recently hit home run number 697 and crossed A-Rod, who stood at 696. Markedly, A-Rod tables as one of the greatest power-hitters to play the game.
Consequently, he moved to number four on the all-time home run list. Shortly after Pujols cruised past another landmark, A-Rod reached his Twitter hailing Pujols. He said, “Congrats to my brother @PujolsFive on tying me with No.696 for 4th on the all-time home run list! Keep going!”
