The former Yankee legend, who retired from the game, is working as an analyst and appears alongside Alex Rodriguez and Red Sox hitter David Ortiz. While talking about Ohtani’s career, Derek was asked if trading Ohtani was the right move for the Angels. Jeter, while highlighting the team’s difficulty in this trade, stated, “I understand why you would do it, but it’s pretty hard to pull the trigger.”

Further, the baseball legend, while speaking highly of Ohtani, added, “This guy is the best talent this sport has seen in a long time.”? Jeter related the trade with several other examples before citing how things could go wrong. “You can’t do the trade wrong because you don’t want to be the guy known for trading Ohtani.”

David Ortiz also weighed in, as the hitter stated, “They need to rebuild the team, and they have the opportunity to go out there and get three or four players that can get the team to the Promised Land.” While Alex Rodriguez gave his expertise on building a new Angels team, the athlete stated, “First you trade Ohtani, then you trade [Mike] Trout, and you try to get five or four players rounding up with first rounders and bringing a guy and giving him ownership and letting him run the shop.” Moreover, the Angels scoring Ohtani now is highly unlikely, as Ohtani?s worth after the season will be much more than Angel’s budget.
