Over a career that spanned 20 years, Derek Jeter constructed an identity and persona of a well-grounded, diplomatic, and rather simple person who kept to himself. But alongside close friend Jimmy Fallon and star singer Rita Ora, the five-time World Champion recently made a shocking and rather kinky revelation that tied back to his career, and a disappointing slump for the Clutch Champion, known for his consistency.
Recently, on the Jimmy Fallon Show, Derek Jeter was featured on the True Confessions segment alongside Rita Ora, and a very non-Jeter-like truth came to light.
Knowing Derek Jeter’s personality, it is next to impossible to imagine the Yankees champ wearing a thong. No one can, right? And that is exactly why this revelation will blow everyone’s mind.

A massive and rather kinky Derek Jeter truth that helped break his 2004 slump
While on the show, the 99.75% Hall of Famer picked up the envelope, and read, “I once wore a thong in public in front of thousands of people.” Instantly, both Rita Ora and Jimmy Fallon fell into laughter. Fallon, in surprise and disbelief, said, “You’re Derek Jeter, we would’ve known.”
Finally, both Ora and Fallon came to the conclusion that the content of the envelope is a lie. But to everyone’s surprise, it wasn’t. And Jeter, while expressing his regret toward playing the game in the first place, said “It is the truth. I’m going to ultimately regret playing this game. But, let me explain shortly.”
However, Jeter justifies the reason behind wearing the thong and relates it back to a massive slump he faced in 2004, which concluded with a happy ending, thanks to the golden thong.
Jeter narrated, “I had a new teammate that I played with in 2002. He always had a gold thong hanging from his locker. He told me anytime you struggle, you wear the gold thong and you’re guaranteed to get a hit. And I thought the guy was crazy. So in 2004, I went through the worst offensive patch stretch in my career. And every day I walk in, he points at the thong. So finally, I wore the thong. Now I wasn’t thong the skin. I had shorts underneath, so I put the thong over the shorts. First pitch, home run.”
Jimmy Fallon and Captain Clutch go way back:
For the longest possible time, Jimmy Fallon stands as a massive Jeter fan. Even to the extent that in 2014, when Jeter walked the Bronx for the final time against the Orioles, Fallon made sure to get the best seat in the house, right behind the home plate, cheering for the great Yankee, and his storied career.
