New York Mets are enjoying a wonderful run in the current season. Despite suffering injury setbacks at regular intervals, the Mets have been rock solid in the ballparks. Recently, the Mets’ star shortstop Francisco Lindor suffered an injury to his finger in the most unfortunate way and missed the game against the title contenders.

Notably, the Mets’ star has been their most consistent batter this season. But because of his finger injury, Lindor had to sit out against the Dodgers on Thursday. And as a result, the Mets lost the first game of the three-game series against the Dodgers.

Not only Lindor, but the Mets are missing the services of their star pitchers, Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom, who are also recovering from their injuries. However, Lindor hopes to come back in the next game and help his team level the series.

Francisco Lindor just wants to help the team win

No player wants to get injured when they are in their prime form. Francisco Lindor has hit at least one run in his last ten games. With a batting average of 0.365, the Mets shortstop has 43 RBIs this season.

Talking about his injury, Lindor shared details about how he injured his finger. Per ESPN, the Mets star hit his finger while closing a door in the hotel.

“The last time I pinched a finger, I was 12 years old. They closed at the same time and the next thing you know, I got a swollen finger. I ran around the room for like three minutes,” Lindor said“I didn’t want to look at it. You know, I felt like I had my heart in that finger.”

“It’s frustrating to not be out there with the boys. I want to be out there every day and do whatever it takes to help the team win.”

Mets owner Steven Cohen jokes about Lindor’s injury

Taking to Twitter, the New York Mets owner Steven Cohen sarcastically trolled Lindor. He tweeted, “Lin-door just got hurt by a door, ironic.”

Notably, earlier in 2020, Cohen bought the Mets for a whopping $2.4 billion. Since then, the Mets have been performing exceptionally well in MLB. And given their current form, the Mets might do the unthinkable in the 2022 season.
