Is Jazz Chisholm Jr. the spark the Yankees needed to finally clinch the World Series?

For Jazz Chisholm Jr., New York has arrived like a dream. Ever since arriving in the New York Yankees, all fears of his alleged attitude issues have evaporated. Now all that remains is the lovable Chisholm who is a darling of his Bronx teammates. That was visible once again during the Yankees’ ALCS celebrations where his teammates showered him with boos. Wait a minute, that doesn’t sound quite right. Why would the Pinstripes boo their very own?

Well, that was the Bronx Bombers’ way of acknowledging Chisholm’s status as the ALDS villain. The newest Yankee had been getting booed by the Kansas City Royals ever since his claim of them being lucky. However, unlike most players, Chisholm didn’t get discouraged by boos, he embraced them. Claiming that the crowd doesn’t boo a “bum,” Chisholm took it as a claim to fame. The undying support of the Yankees team was one of the main triggers for this response.

“I’d do to w-r with these guys, any day. They introduce me like I’m the f—ing little brother they always wanted,” Chisholm said via Gary Phillips. “And I feel like I’m the little brother they always wanted.” The boos were loud but mixed with the cold drinks, it gave a usual warm feeling to Chisholm. The star could be heard saying “I love it” after the boos simmered down a little. However, this was far from the only comment that Chisholm made.

The star was caught in a word battle with Royals’ Maikel Garcia. This was after Garcia’s late slide led to him almost colliding with Anthony Volpe. This led to Chisholm calling Garcia a “sore loser” for trying to injure Volpe. While the tempers lowered quickly, it again showed why Chisholm has quickly become a loved Yankee.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. remains in awe of his Yankees teammates

Per The Athletic, Jazz Chisholm couldn’t help but be mesmerized by his teammates. “I didn’t produce much in the series, but these guys made me feel like I did the world,” Chisholm said. The 26-year-old recorded just 2 hits in ALDS and had a terrible average of .133. However, despite not being at his best, Chisholm had a big role in helping the Bronx Bombers qualify for the ALCS. Simply because he’s the spark that continuously electrifies the Bronx Clubhouse.

However, in this game, it was Gerrit Cole who electrified the 26-year-old. Chisholm noted how he was disappointed after the umpire made a wrong call in his first at-bat. However, all his negative thoughts quickly disappeared when Cole walked up to him. “He came to me and said ‘stay the f––– locked in. We’re going to win this s–––,” revealed Chisholm. That was the trigger that made the star believe that the Bronx Bombers had victory in their hand. And with 7 tremendous innings, Cole turned that belief into a reality.

So now with the Yankees entering their 3rd ALCS under Aaron Boone, Jazz Chisholm has a lot to look forward to. The star has continuously said that the Yankees are winning the World Series this year but are they really? Perhaps that is a question for another day. As of now, the vibes around the clubhouse are electric and for Chisholm, boos are like music.
