In recent years, the celebrations have included a number of creative props. Most recently, Julio Rodriguez debuted the Seattle Mariners’ new home run celebration. 

Although Rodriguez has started the season in decent form, the Mariners hold an 8-11 win-loss record at the moment. Furthermore, the team is currently 4th in the AL West. But this new home run celebration got fans hyped up.

The Seattle Mariners are the latest to join the trend with star outfielder Julio Rodriguez debuting their trident celebration. The Mariners shared a Twitter video of Rodriguez celebrating with the trident following a home run. He hit a big one into the stands during their latest game. 

In the Tweet, the Mariners said, “WELL THIS IS NEW 🔱”. The new celebration with the trident is an epic way to honor big hits. It also gives the players a chance to look cool. Furthermore, it seems to have become extremely popular among fans.

It is special that Rodriguez got to debut the trident, considering he is the Mariners’ franchise star and signed a new deal last year. But this is not the first time that the team is associated with a trident, as it has a special place in Mariners’ history.

The Mariners had an upside-down trident in their logo for the team’s first 10 years

The Seattle Mariners played their first season in 1977. From that year until 1986, they had an upside-down trident as part of their logo. Although fans thought it looked cool, it was removed due to an upside-down trident signifying bad luck. The team then moved away from it and onto a new logo.
