The National League’s Cincinnati Reds are on fire. After one of their worst seasons in recent memory, the Reds have surged to the top of the NL Central. And they’re doing it with the help of one of the most iconic comebacks of their 39-year-old veteran who recently came off a nine-month-long recovery. 

During the previous year, the renowned 6-time All-Star, Joey Votto, faced a challenging start, eventually succumbing to an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. And now, with the thrill and crack of the bat, the first baseman Votto is back on the plate with a smash, winning the hearts of countless fans.

The chances of the Cincinnati Reds are getting better!

In 2015, Votto suffered an injury that impacted him until last year. Strength training had enabled him to play well until last year. Since then, his condition worsened, making him get surgery to repair a torn left rotator cuff. As a result, the athlete went on a long recovery, ending with him being on the plate last night and helping his team win.

During the game, when the Reds were leading against the Colorado Rockies by 2-1, Votto hit a solo home run, his first of the season, with a blasting 381 ft. This iconic comeback with the lone home run brought Joey’s career homers to 343. His homer led another run to the Reds and eventually helped them win the game. 

Notably, soon as the slugger hit the first home run of this season, Reds fans started cheering for him. His teammates celebrated this feat by honoring him with a cape and bullhorn crown as he entered the dugout. 

Fans have mixed thoughts about the veteran’s comeback!

How amazed and happy the Reds fans were with Votto’s comeback can be confirmed by hearing the Great American Ball Park roars. The Reds are having a good enough season, and now their star is back to help them reach heights.
