Inconsistent is the word if anyone wants to describe the season for the New York Mets. The Buck Showalter-led team, which once looked to be back on the winning pace, has faced multiple breaks in between. The second half has not started the way they wanted and with another loss, the Mets have moved to fourth in the NL East standings. Already under a lot of pressure from fans over results, the team has faced criticism for their poor on-field performances.

Similar were the scenes when the Mets played the Los Angeles Dodgers. They lost the game and the series but the attention of the game was the poor fielding. As the scenes unfolded on the baseball field, it led to immense disappointment for the fans, who shared in their social media responses.

A disappointing day for the New York Mets collectively

Given the second half of the season is in progress, every team expects better results. But the story has been very much different for the Mets, who failed to win the game. The on-field effort was not up to the mark, which was reflected in the voice of the announcers too.

Awful Announcing shared a clip of the incident on Twitter. Its caption had quotes from the announcer’s description of the poor fielding incident. It read, “Oh, no. What a disaster. To add insult to injury, it bounces up and hit him in the face. The 2023 Mets in one clip.”

Considering the incident happened in the ninth innings when the Dodgers had only one run lead, it became the game’s highlight. Had they handled it better, the game could have had a different end. Eventually, the Dodgers won it 5-1 after putting three on the board in the last innings. Fans would not overcome this, had their thoughts on the game and the season of the Mets.

Disappointed fans lose season hopes!

Even though many games are yet to be played, fans are not sure about the future of the Mets. Apart from watching the team lose another series, they have lost all the season hopes.
