The Boston Red Sox have been on a downward spiral since winning the World Series in 2018. They had a very poor 2022 season and were one of the worst teams in MLB. They finished at the bottom of the AL East and were far off making the playoffs. Furthermore, their prospects look even bleaker after losing key players this off-season.?

The loss of franchise star Xander Bogaers in free agency will particularly hurt the team. A recent ranking placed the Red Sox near the top of an important metric and fans mocked them for it.

There have been lots of rumors floating around about certain MLB teams being sold. This prompted Fox Sports: MLB to share a list of the 10 most valuable MLB franchises. They shared the list via Twitter and the Boston Red Sox ranked 3rd with a value of $3.9 billion.?

In the Tweet, Fox Sports: MLB said, ?With Arte Moreno deciding to not sell the the Angels, we take a look at the most valuable MLB franchises according to @Forbes?. The Red Sox ranking third is not surprising considering how big a market it is and the franchise?s history.

But fans have reacted and do not agree with the Red Sox ranking so highly. Some mocked the Red Sox?s low payroll. Others mocked the team’s owner. All-in-all they disagree with this particular ranking.?

The Red Sox have shifted focus since losing Bogaerts in free agency. They re-signed Rafael Devers to a long-term deal and are building the team around him. But they have not done enough to make up for key losses this season.?

They have not done enough this off-season

Although the Boston Red Sox have been quite active this off-season, they failed in re-signing Xander Bogaerts. According to The Athletic?s Chad Jennings, ?They intended to keep Bogaerts in Boston. The front office called it a priority. And it didn?t happen.? This cost the Red Sox an impact player.?

They have signed Masataka Yoshida and Justin Turner to deals while also bringing in Adam Duvall. But none of these players will be able to fill the hole left by Bogaerts. Furthermore, there are other problem positions for the Red Sox as well. It will be interesting to see how the rest of their off-season turns out.
