Andrew Toles hasn’t played in the major league since 2018. Mental Health issues had always plagued his career, and eventually, things started getting too hard for him. After seeking medical help, it was revealed that Toles had bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Since 2019, the Blue Crew has kept Toles signed to a deal and on their restricted list. Now they’ve once again renewed that deal. In an offseason where they’ve spent $1 billion, this is probably the most heartwarming news.

This deal aims to ensure that Toles gets access to the team’s health insurance benefits. This is a huge gesture in a sport that can sometimes lose touch with reality. Due to these issues, Toles has struggled with homelessness. After he was briefly arrested when he was found sleeping at a Florida airport, his father Alvin Toles gained his legal guardianship.

Alvin Toles told USA Today, “We are having challenges but nothing that God and I can’t handle. Schizophrenia, it’s just so tough. I mean, he can’t even watch TV. He hears voices and the TV at the same time, so it’s kind of confusing. I’ve seen him looking at some baseball games on his laptop, but I don’t think he really understands what’s going on.”

Upon hearing this news, the baseball fans came in full support of Toles. The beautiful gesture of the Dodgers organization also impressed them.
