Is it true? Well, not for sure! The New York Yankees first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, has been performing fine. And there’s no such news about him getting traded or about leaving the Yankees. Going by Fact Check, the news came from FAX Sports! But nothing is official yet!

Anthony Rizzo played with the Chicago Cubs from 2012 to 2021 until he was signed by the New York Yankees in 2021. He had a moderate 2024 season as he batted at an average of .228, posting 77 hits and eight home runs, with a .301 OBP and a .636 OPS. However, in the second half of the season, he sustained an injury due to a broken bone in his right hand.

So, is it really the end of his ties with the Yanks?

Well, the Bronx Bombers haven’t made ANY official statement about trading him. But, yeah, it is true that they declined his $17 million offer and paid him $6 million only.

Now, if you remember, before the New York Yankees, Anthony Rizzo used to be a superstar with the Chicago Cubs – 242 home runs and .272/.372/.489 slash line. He was a three-time All-Star, four-time Golden Glove winner, and even led the Cubs to win the World Series title in 2019. And probably that’s why FAX Sports posted on X: “Anthony Rizzo is going back to Chicago.”

But meanwhile, Anthony Rizzo has landed in some big trouble.

Amid the rumor of Anthony Rizzo going back to the Chicago Cubs, he hasn’t found any takers yet. Rizzo is 35 years old, and most of the teams are uncertain of his performance in the coming years. But Rizzo wants to play more, although the options are quite limited now. And even if we consider the news to be true, the Cubs haven’t made any move yet. They have signed Justin Turner for a one-year contract, who will be playing first base, providing backup to Michael Busch. Then what about Rizzo?

Well, the Pittsburgh Pirates have shown interest in Rizzo, but there are no encouraging signs yet, even after Spencer Horwitz missed Opening Day due to an injury. And adding to the tension is the Yankees’ not being interested in extending his contract. Despite his good defensive production, he is only getting older, and that could be burdensome. With his market value gradually going down due to lackluster performances and injuries, the 1B would be unlikely to sign another deal that might affect the future earnings of some senior players in the team.
