One of the best defensive shortstops of his era, Ozzie has won a Gold Glove and American Rookie of the year award as well.

Why was Ozzie Guillen drunk for his dream job interview?

The slugger has played primarily for the Chicago White Sox in his playing years. And it was his dream job to manage the team. But when he got called to fly to Chicago for the interview, he was partying in Miami.

On boarding the flight, Ozzie slept and woke up only when the plane landed. He was drunk when the interview started, and to the first question, he answered“If you do want anything from me for real, just let me know right away. I don’t want you to waste your time.”

In the end, the former baseball player went on to have his dream job, even after he appeared in the interview despite being drunk.

Talking about his experience in Graham Bensinger’s show, he said, “Hey, you know what I got to manage the White Sox… They say no, I enjoy it anyway.”

Anyway, as it turned out, Ozzie proved to be an even better manager than he was a player for the Chicago White Sox.

How did Ozzie act as a manager?

Guillen got hired as the White Sox’s manager in 2003. The team has not won a world series since 1917 and hasn’t been to the AL pennant since 1959. In the year 2005, these two changed. It happened when the Chicago White Sox won the world series against the Houston Astros with a four-game sweep.
