Ex-POTUS Donald Trump Once Pulled a Typical New York Yankees Move While Watching His Rival Mets Sink in a Rare Photo

New York Yankees are a storied franchise and have built a huge fanbase over the years. Furthermore, being in New York City has earned them some massive celebrity fans as well. One of these fans is none other than Donald Trump. The former President of the United States has been an outspoken fan of the team for many years.

This started many decades ago when Trump was good friends with former Yankee owner George Steinbrenner. Trump was good friends with the late Yankees owner and grew to love the team because of it. Most recently, an iconic photo has resurfaced of Trump watching the Yankees rivals lose in the postseason.

In 2006, the New York Mets were the best team in the National League, with 97 wins. Furthermore, they were a favorite to win the World Series. But they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS 4-3. An iconic photo has resurfaced of New York Yankees fan Donald Trump watching the Mets get knocked out of the playoffs. Twitter User Baseball In Pics shared the moment. 

In the Tweet, they said, “Donald Trump watches Carlos Beltran strike out looking to end the Met’s 2006 season”. It seems that as a Yankee fan, Trump had only come to see the Mets lose. The Cardinals did go on to win the World Series that year, though I doubt that made Mets fans feel any better.

The Yankees fans will no doubt take joy in seeing this picture and reminiscing about their cross-town rivals’ big loss. But they will also be looking forward to the upcoming MLB season and what the Bronx Bombers may achieve this year.

The New York Yankees have signed centerpiece Aaron Judge to a 9-year $360 million megadeal. Furthermore, they have also improved their pitching department drastically. This and other moves indicate that they are aiming to win the World Series this season.

A feat that they have not accomplished since the 2009 World Series win. I’m sure that Donald Trump will be rooting for the Bronx Bombers to take it home this year.
