It is his chapstick. The reason behind the chapstick being the thing he does not forget is that he has big lips and a rather troublesome memory from his childhood. A-Rod told the story of one of his summers in San Francisco. He thought it would be hot, therefore, he only packed shorts, but the weather turned out differently.
It was cold, he was freezing, and his lips especially were in pretty bad shape. In his words, “I was freezing, and my lips, I had like, I looked like the Joker. I had dry lips, I don’t know what was going on. I needed to get back to Miami to the warm, to the humidity.”
Dealing with a situation like that once taught Alex to never ever leave home without a chapstick by his side. And so that chapstick became one of the things that he do not want to or cannot live without. And also encourages others to have chapstick with them.
When did Miami become home to Alex?
The athlete was born in New York City to his Dominican Republic immigrant parents. His family moved to Miami when he was about four years old, and stayed there till his profession took him away.
