Everybody has some secrets they don’t want anyone to know. Dusty Baker, the manager of the San Francisco Giants from 1993 to 2002, believes that the media and MLB are biased toward the Boston, New York, and East Coast teams.

The statement came when David Ortiz got inducted into the Hall of Fame, but Barry Bonds was nowhere near it.?

Dusty Baker thinks Bonds should be in the Hall of Fame

One of the best baseball players of all time, Barry Bonds holds many records, including most career home runs (762) and most home runs in a single season (73).?However, he still could not get inducted into the Hall of Fame even after a decade of retirement. Dusty Baker, manager of the SF Giants, has strong opinions on Bond’s exclusion from the induction. He believes it is the media and the voters who are biased towards Bonds.?

He said, “And I love Papi. But if you dig deep enough, everybody has something suspicious or something that they aren?t crazy about everybody knowing.”

Even though Ortiz denied he ever bought steroids, he tested positive for PEDs and said it is the result of him taking supplements. Like Ortiz, Bonds also tested positive for using steroids. According to Baker, voters looked the other way around for Ortiz, and so did the media. Because Bonds was indiscriminating to the media whereas, Ortiz was friendly.

Talking about voters, Baker said, “The voters (supposedly) like guys of high character, guys with no marks or any suspicions about their reputation ? or maybe it?s how you treated the media.” He added, “[MLB] is more partial to Boston, and New York, and the East Coast teams. Whenever we go to the playoffs, we always have to see what New York or Boston is going to do before we can even determine what time we?re going to be on TV.”

There was none better than Barry

Records made by the former outfielder Bonds are still waiting to get broken. Everybody has a past, and they have to deal with it. Bonds dealt with his. Former manager Baker of the Giants says, “There was none better than Barry.”

There may never be another Barry Bonds again, or maybe there will be. No one knows.?
