“How we kinda started was, um, when my parents really moved here in 2002,” Nimmala revealed. He went on, recalling, “My dad played cricket in India, so he learned about baseball, and cricket and baseball are kind of similar in the ways that they’re played, so he put me in baseball, and ever since then it kinda just took off.”. Who knew India’s cricket fever would cross boundaries to help a promising Toronto Blue Jays slugger find his own choice of bat to swing with?

Nimmala’s parents have roots in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. The 18YO grew up playing cricket with his relatives during his summer visits to their homeland. Nimmala is the third leading Blue Jays major league prospect in 2023; he once said that he hopes to inspire more Indian-Americans to play baseball like him. His aggressive hitting and offensive form exudes the power of someone who has been here for a long and impactful time.
