MLB Legend Derek Jeter Once Sold Himself Short Before Siding WIth Tiger Woods and Roger Federer: “I’m Not Very Good”

Derek Jeter is a man of many talents and worked hard to perfect a variety of skills. Jeter has always shown the hunger to improve and become better no matter what it takes. This extends past his career as a baseball player and into the other aspects of his life as well.

But Jeter is not just a talented athlete, he worked hard with determination and drive to succeed. Although it may seem like he is good at everything, that is not true. Jeter himself once talked about something that he was not good at and that he had to work on.

Derek Jeter is bad at gaming

In a 2008 interview with Jimmy Traina of SI.com, Jeter opened up about the Gillette/EA Champions Tournament and his part in it. When asked about the tournament, Jeter said that it was going to be an exciting experience for a lot of people. This was because fans had a chance to play with Derek Jeter, Roger Federer or Tiger Woods. Jeter went on to say that fans who play against him wouldn’t have that much fun as he’s not good at gaming.

Jeter: “It’s the Gillette/EA Champions Tournament on Xbox Live. Do you play video games much?”

SI.com: “Not really. But for people who do, this sounds impressive because they have a chance to play against you, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Thierry Henry.”

Jeter: “Yeah, but I don’t know how much fun fans are going have playing me.”

SI.com: “Why is that?”

Jeter: “Because I’m not very good. But I’m working on it. I’m working on my skills. But, yeah, the amazing thing about this is that it’s a global tournament. You’re going to have people coming from all over the world to play against each other and then coming up with the global champion. I think it’s something a lot of people are excited about and looking forward to.”

Although Jeter is not that good at gaming, I’m sure that most fans would just be happy interacting with him. Jeter is a sporting icon and even people who haven’t watched baseball know of him.
