The off-season is in full swing. Multiple teams have shown an approach to a better roster with quick and surprising deals in the market. The Chicago White Sox, who had a poor 2023 season, have become the latest entrants to the free agent signing list with a promising name.

The White Sox were not in the best shape last season. They finished fourth in the AL Central and needed this off-season to go in favor of a better 2024. It seems the team has gotten their dues with a win in the race to sign a KBO star, who is expected to return to America with an MVP award.

The Chicago White Sox are working hard for a comeback and have added another player to the roster. According to ESPN reporter Jeff Passan, the former Washington Nationals pitcher agreed to a two-year contract with the White Sox for his MLB return.

He shared, “Right-hander Erick Fedde and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a two-year, $15 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Fedde, 30, went 20-6 with a 2.00 ERA for the NC Dinos in the KBO, where he was named MVP this year.”

With this deal, Fedde will move from the Nationals Park to Guaranteed Rate Field for MLB glory. Will he be able to overshadow his past, which forced his exit from the major leagues?

A Home Return, Will It Be Worth the Wait?

Erick Fedde is not a new face in the MLB spectrum. Before his move to South Korea, the right-hand pitcher played for the Washington Nationals for six seasons. However, he struggled through six years in D.C., visibly so. The 30-year-old accumulated an ERA of 5.41 in 102 games at a winning percentage of 0.389 and 352 strikeouts. It put Fedde out of favor, forcing him to look for playing opportunities internationally.

Surprisingly, the move worked. He has returned home with better numbers. The pitcher won 20 games for his team and even claimed a KBO MVP award. But a different kind of challenge now awaits him. Notably, the RHP will be with the White Sox, a team that struggled with its bullpen last season, with their best pitcher earning over four runs per game.

To change that, they have signed Fedde, who himself has a case to prove. Though with the numbers in his favor, the former Nationals player looks a better version of himself. What do you think? Tell us how you feel Erick Fedde will do in the comments below!
