Does A-Rod's connection with fans make him the ultimate Yankees legend? Share your thoughts!

If you ask fans‌ what’s the most important thing for them—many would pick connections they build with their favorite players. Alex Rodriguez, who often comes out too headstrong, is always the opposite when it comes to his fans — ‘very demure, very mindful’, one could say. A-Rod even pranked an unsuspecting fan who thought he looked like the guy JLo was dating. Recently, he shared yet another adorable fan interaction, posting the exchange online.

The clip highlighted a conversation between Alex and a dedicated New York Yankee fan, who, Rodriguez mentioned, had known for 15 years! When you have a million followers and fans, it’s impossible to keep track- but apparently, not for Alex Rodriguez. We saw that in action when just outside the Yankee stadium, A-rod called over Tommy, his fan for 15 years with a casual, ‘Come here, kiddo.’

Tommy, a Yankee fan, was standing amongst the crowd when A-rod recognized him. Rodriguez didn’t waste time and called him over: “Hey kiddo, long time my friend, I missed you. He’s [Tommy] really the epitome of what Yankees fans are all about. They love their players, they are very smart fans, they are loyal as heck and this guy is the epitome of a great fan and a great human being. Love you, bro, miss you, I will see you soon.” To say that the fan was over the moon would be an understatement; Alex Rodriguez even signed his baseball, with Tommy emotionally explaining his love for the star while mentioning how A-Rod treats his supporters the best.

After Alex Rodriguez praised Tommy for his unwavering loyalty towards the team, he went on to bring a smile to A-Rod’s face with a performance. He made an incredible impression on Yankees broadcasters Michael Kay and John Sterling. Later, the two hugged and walked off, but this video will be evergreen. Rodriguez has not always been popular among the baseball community due to some of his actions and his unfiltered opinions and statements; but after retirement, there definitely seems to be a change in his demeanor. This was on full display during the recent Old Timers’ event he attended, where his softer, more approachable side shone through.

Have an interesting take?

Now Alex Rodriguez has been quite a character when it comes to the baseball world. There were rumors of bad blood between the New York Yankees and him. It all started when he was suspended for the use of PEDs for 211 games, which later turned more intense. He retired from the New York Yankees but word started floating that the team hurried his retirement, giving more fuel to the fire that all was not good between A-Rod and the organization. But that’s in the past; things now are definitely on the mend, if they were not alright before.

Alex Rodriguez was present at the Old Timers event, which was hosted to honor the ‘09 winning roster. He was joined by his mates, like Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia, and Jorge Posada. And Alex Rodriguez had a great time with everyone, even his long-lost friend Derek Jeter. A-rod did mention that he was surprised to be even invited, an eyebrow-raising statement indeed, but later added that he was glad to make it. As far as not being inducted by the team in Monument Park, A-Rod said, “I would love to be in, but obviously that’s not my decision. I honor everything about the New York Yankees. It would be an honor.”

Guaranteed, there may be a long list of things Alex Rodriguez did that are up for debate. However, he is actively making efforts to move past his not-so-great past. His dynamics with Derek Jeter seem to be easing up; they were seen enjoying banter. A-Rod was at the Olympics, cheering on both Team USA and the Dominican Republic.
