Baseball may be America’s favorite pastime, but not everyone happens to be a sports fan. Despite that cold hard fact, almost everyone has heard the name, Babe Ruth. Arguably the greatest ballplayer of all time, Ruth redefined the term legend. But his was a baseball of the twentieth century. Among today’s players, there are some names, like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, that are set on a Hall of Fame-worthy path as well. But what happens when these juggernauts clash?

Ruth was one of the earliest two-way players MLB had seen at the time. Today, Ohtani is lauded as one of the most outstanding players to grace the game. His talent on both sides of the ball is truly unmatched. But where Ohtani may be one of the best MLB has seen since the Sultan of Swat, Aaron Judge is not to be dismissed. Just last season, the outfielder broke the AL single-season home run record and later became the 16th franchise captain. Now, Yankee Stadium is set to become the battleground for these powerful foes to clash.

On April 18th, 1923, Babe Ruth hit the first home run in Yankee Stadium. Exactly a hundred years ago, history was set in motion. The Pinstripes came out from under Manhattan’s shadow to a ballpark of their own. Something that became known as ?The House That Ruth Built? as a jam-packed stadium watched the icon against his former team. Even then, the Boston Red Sox vs. Yankees rivalry was the stuff of legends.

Today, Yankee Stadium may witness history being made once again, even if it’s not against Boston. The Bronx Bombers will face off against the Los Angeles Angels for the first time in 2023. Something the fans have been eagerly waiting for, because what’s more exciting than watching two greats face off?

Ohtani isn’t set to pitch today, so some may find it disappointing. Looking at past game records, the two teams have faced off against each other sixteen times, out of which the Yankees have won ten. Ohtani has faced the Bronx twice in his career. Now the question is – what will today bring? Is it all apples and oranges or is there merit to this debate?
