Yes! The Orioles called up their top prospect, Adley Rutschman, for his big league debut. And it was nothing but an emotional joyride for the Rutschman. The Orioles’ catcher is said to be the next big thing for them. Notably, Adley Rutschman is MLB’s No. 1 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He has been part of the Orioles since the 2019 season when the Orioles picked him as their No. 1 draft.

Rutschman waited three years for his big league debut. And he made it with style. The Orioles’ catcher had a wonderful game against the Tampa Bay Rays. But the major highlight was Rutschman’s emotional reaction to his debut.

The Orioles are going through a rebuilding phase. Per MLB.com, Rutschman is a key member of this rebuild. Even in his debut game, Rutschman hit a triple in the seventh inning against the Rays. Although the Orioles lost the game against the Rays, Rutschman stole the limelight for his MLB debut.
Later, Rutschman opened up about how he felt after playing his first big league game. The Orioles’ star said that it was an emotional overload for him.
“I’m still running on nerves right now”, Rutschman said. “Just from the second that I walked out onto the field to warm up the pitcher, ‘til the time I walked into the tunnel, and emotional overload. I can’t really explain the feeling, because it’s just unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced.”

Despite the debut of their top prospect, the Orioles had no answer to the Rays’ offense. They lost the game 6-1 to the Rays. This was the 25th loss for the Orioles out of the 41 games.
