The Los Angeles Angels were having a good run, but then they came up against the Miami Marlins. Losing the series opener, the second game was once again lost, this time in embarrassing fashion. While the Halos may boast the combined star power of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, it’s not always enough. After a stunning display in the World Baseball Classic, for which they were recently honored, the duo has brought their A-game to the regular season as well. But while their personal performances may be good, baseball is unfortunately a team game.

Since 2023 is Ohtani’s last season with the Angels, fans want him to join a different team next. Many feel that the Halos may be hindering Ohtani. And the recent Angels game only gave more proof of the fact.

Despite Shohei Ohtani’s stellar pitching, LA Angels’ mistakes cost them a game

With a strong start against the Marlins, Ohtani earned just one run in six innings but made a fielding error to give up two. Yet, his overall performance is not what led to the Angels ‘5-8 loss. Matt Thaiss’ fielding blunder, who remained just out of reach of the plate while tagging, cost the team.

In the 10th inning, left fielder Mickey Moniak dropped a fly ball by Garrett Cooper, who was pinch-hitting for Joey Wendle. “I think it was a play that I messed up,” Moniak said later. “I think that I make that play nine times out of 10. Unfortunately, it happened to be in the 10th inning, an extra-inning game, cost us a few runs and I take full blame for that one. I think that loss falls on me.”

Fans were angry at the players but even more so at manager Phil Nevin. His decision to bring in relief pitchers for Ohtani ended up as a bad one because both Jamie Barria and Chase Silseth gave up runs. All in all, the Angels’ poor display left them outraged.

Baseball fans are irked at the Angels

Just when fans thought the Halos were doing well, yesterday’s game happened. The LA team has had their ups and downs this season, with some joking that they were performing well to keep Ohtani. But after yesterday’s efforts were runied, no one is happy.

Some want the Angels to trade Ohtani to a better team.

Many were angry at Nevin, Moniak, and Thaiss.
