The beginning of a new baseball season is often marked by whispers of injury news making rounds amongst the sports community. Unfortunately for the Chicago White Sox, the start of the season has been tinged with a sense of déjà vu. As star outfielder, Eloy Jimenez has once again found himself on the injured list.

Despite being considered one of the most feared power hitters, Jimenez has developed a reputation as an injury-prone player among fans. Often finding himself sidelined right near the beginning of the regular season. The injury this time around is a low-grade strain on his left hamstring. The White Sox have estimated that the slugger will be out for at least 10 days, with a recovery time of two to three weeks. This is the third year in a row that the outfielder has suffered an injury. And fans are beginning to grow frustrated with the situation.

Chicago White Sox fans have grown all too familiar with the recurring injuries befalling their star outfielder Eloy Jimenez. In 2022, a right hamstring tear cut his season short at just 84 games. While in 2021, he suffered a ruptured left pectoral tendon in spring training and played just 55 games.

In hopes of easing the risk of further injury, the White Sox decided to make Jimenez the team’s full-time designated hitter this season, taking him out of left field. However, their hope was short-lived, laying just five games before Jimenez found himself once again on the injured list.

As the season continues to unfold, will the heavy hitter be able to take on the field and complete more than 100 games this season? Hopefully, the injury woes this time around are restricted to his current recovery time.

It remains to be seen if Eloy Jimenez returns to his dominant form

Jimenez has had a rocky history with injuries, having played in just one season of more than 100 games thus far in his career. However, during his rookie year in 2019, he made a strong impression, hitting 31 home runs with a .267 batting average. Since then, his stats at the plate have been inconsistent. If he shakes off his injury and comes back stronger than before, it’s possible for him to return to his glory days. Meanwhile, the team has made a roster change, recalling infielder Jake Burger from Triple-A Charlotte.
