Shohei Ohtani is on his way back to Los Angeles. In a season of disappointments, the two-way phenomenon has been the sole bright spot. Shotime is undoubtedly attached to his team, but the current Angels roster cannot elevate his talents. In what will likely be a ground-breaking free agency deal, Ohtani may be heading to a different city. But he hasn’t cut all ties with The Halos just yet.

In a season-end impacted by injuries, the Japanese sensation recently had surgery for his UCL tear. It was the second such procedure for his right elbow and may affect Ohtani’s pitching whenever he returns. Fans hope the comeback in 2024 is with a different team, one that utilizes his unicorn potential. But before that, Shotime still has some unfinished business in LA.

With less than a week remaining in the regular season, the postseason will bring some interesting matchups. Unfortunately, The Angels will as usual not be making it to October. While the team as a whole has failed, a few top-notch players have given it their all in 2023. The upcoming Saturday will be the day they’re honored.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register recently announced on X, formerly Twitter, “The Angels will be giving out their team MVP award in a ceremony before Saturday’s game.” It will be the last series of the season for the LA team, against The Oakland Athletics.

While Shohei Ohtani is a huge favorite for the AL MVP title this season, the Angels will also hand out other awards of their own. As Fletcher reported, “Also, Shohei Ohtani is expected to be back at the park sometime this weekend.”

The two-way slugger has been recovering from surgery and right oblique tightness, which ended his season in early September. Where will he go, come offseason?

While most major franchises are expected to duke it out, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic believes it will be the Big Apple vs. LA. The Dodgers hold many advantages should Ohtani choose them. Either of New York’s teams holds potential as well, if they can get their act together.
