When it comes to American sports, baseball might not be the most popular sport nowadays, but this sport has probably the most loyal fan base. Apart from commoners, countless celebrities also root for their favorite baseball team, especially during the postseason. Be it a particular player or an entire team, there probably aren’t many sports with such a dedicated following. And fans aren’t shy in expressing their love of baseball.
If one looks at the most famous players from recent decades, names like Derek Jeter and Barry Bonds come up. Famous teams like the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are some of the most well-known baseball teams. And sometimes, these players or teams find fans in celebrities as well. Superstars may be popular, but in the end, they’re also human beings. They’re famous for their talent in a particular area, but that doesn’t mean they can’t admire someone else from a different field. And for most celebrities, baseball is a common interest. Edward Norton, who is famous for his work as not only an actor but a director as well, is a self-proclaimed die-hard fan of the Baltimore Orioles.
At the time Jeter was playing, and at the height of his career, he gave various interviews as a sports legend. In an article published by Sports Illustrated, Norton once referred to Jeter’s tremendous abilities. “He’s an incredible talent. I’m a lifetime Baltimore Orioles fan, so he’s like my worst nightmare,” he said in the interview. The Orioles and the Yankees have had a healthy rivalry, so the actor’s reaction is only to be expected.
