Being one of the most influential hip-hop artists and producers of all time comes with a lot of perks. People genuinely listen to such a person when they say something. Ye has always been a baseball fan, especially, Barry Bonds. West is such a big fan of Bonds that he named a song after him from his Grammy-winning collection from 2007.

Four years ago, Ye decided to go to a sellout game at Guaranteed Rate Field. Back then, Harvey native LaRoyce Hawkins was going to throw the first pitch, but then Ye asked if he and his son, Saint, could also throw out one, which Hawkins graciously accepted. But then, after the game, a tweet by Ye made people realize why throwing out the first pitch was important for him.

What happened after the sellout game of the Chicago White Sox?

The rapper stayed at the game for at least three innings, but what made people emotional was the tweet that Ye posted after the game. He wrote, ‘same field’ in the caption of the tweet. In the tweet, was the picture of Ye and his late mother, Donda, both dressed up in White Sox gear. Apparently, the mother-son duo threw out the ceremonial pitch together in 2007, on the same field.

After the tweet, the White Sox officials understood the reason behind Ye asking for throwing out the pitch. He wanted to remember his mother, by creating a special moment with his son.
