Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2023 campaign is off to a good start with 5 wins and 2 losses so far. Stars like Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Mookie Betts have spearheaded their offensive efforts. But their real strength has been pitching, only allowing opponents to score more than 2 runs once this season.

Their bullpen is spearheaded by well-known names such as Julio Urias, Clayton Kershaw, and Noah Syndergaard. But a new name has popped up in debates for their best pitcher. Most recently, the Dodgers’ 25-year-old rising star pitcher shocked fans with a seemingly physics-defying pitch.

Pitching is a complicated combination of power and science, with a number of grips and forms producing differing results. From the fastball to the curveball, there is a wide array of pitches. Most recently, Los Angeles Dodgers’ Dustin May shocked baseball fans with his incredible sinker pitch. MLB Pitching analyst Rob Friedman shared a video of May throwing a 100mph sinker on Twitter. This has left fans bewildered and shocked as they watch the short clip on a loop. 

In the Tweet, Friedman said, “Dustin May, 100mph Sinker with 19″ of run.” This emphasized just how fast the pitch was actually going and how much it moved in the air. Most batters, even at the MLB level, would be left baffled by this pitch. Either they would watch it go past them or attempt a wild swing at it.

The reactions to this pitch have been that of shock. Many fans were left uncertain of what they had truly witnessed. 

Some fans said that the pitch had glitched.

Others lauded May and predicted a massive season from the 25-year-old pitcher.

It will be interesting to see if May can continue shocking fans with his pitching. But he is not the only Dodgers pitcher to attract attention in the last few months. One of their pitchers was made into a Christmas spoof. But getting back to May, he has shown his quality so far.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dustin May has started the 2023 season on fire. In 2 starts, he has pitched 13 innings, struck out 9 batters, and allowed only 1 earned run. This is huge from the 25-year-old as he experiences a massive breakout to begin his 2023 MLB campaign. Fans will be hoping that he continues this form and develops into a bona fide star.
