On Friday, September 24th, Albert Pujols smashed his 700th MLB home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. That turned out to be his second home run in the same game as the Redbirds conquered the Dodgers in a humiliating 11-0 loss. As he smashed his 700th homer, multiple MLB stars like A-Rod and Barry Bonds chimed in to congratulate The MachineEven Shohei Ohtani joined the party.

How did Shohei Ohtani congratulate Albert Pujols on hitting 700 homers?

The LA Angels pitcher, hitter, and outfielder, and also America’s most likable athlete, Shohei Ohtani, applauded former teammate Albert Pujols on smashing his 700th homer.

Ohtani and Pujols played together with the Los Angeles Angels not too long ago. While Ohtani was on his way to stardom, Pujols was trying to find his way to stick around in baseball given his slump in form towards the end of his journey with the Angels.

As reported by Rhett Bollinger, Ohtani said, “I’m really glad he got to 700. I played with him for a couple years and it was an honor to be a teammate of his. He’s raking this year, so I feel like he has a lot left in the tank.”

Will Shohei Ohtani win the MVP award?

Shohei Ohtani is on a roll this season. After winning the American League MVP award in 2021, Ohtani has dominated in 2022 as well. Sarah Langs reported Ohtani to be the first player since 1900 to face 600 batters and have 600-plus plate appearances. Throughout 2022, Ohtani has struck out over 200 batters and has smashed over 30 home runs.

In a display of his magnificent two-way skills, Ohtani has left everyone in awe, for the second time in two consecutive seasons. All in all, Ohtani is the best individual all-around performer this season.
