Baseball, America’s favorite pastime, has a long history of heroes, heartbreaks, and, of course, scandals. Just when you think the league has cleaned up its act, another headline sends shockwaves. This time, it’s a $42 million mistake, a cautionary tale of shortcuts and consequences. The Atlanta Braves‘ latest controversy. A star player caught in the web of a doping debacle.

What is going on with the Braves? If losing the first 4 games wasn’t enough, they are now about to lose Jurickson Profar because he has allegedly done something illegal.

Mike Rodriguez reported through his X handle, “Breaking News: According to my sources, Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar tested positive for some substances banned by the MLB and will be suspended.”And if this is true, and Profar is found guilty, Atlanta could be in serious trouble. They might even have to wave the white flag in the upcoming games.

They say that he is going to be suspended for 80 games if tested positive. And there is another cautionary tale as well. If he tests positive a second time, he is done for the whole season, and if a third, he can say goodbye to his MLB career.

But before all of that, right now, the Braves are scrambling to find their feet.

Not just because of this one player, they have already lost Spencer Strider to elbow surgery, who is expected to be back by mid-April. They still don’t have Ronald Acuña Jr., recovering from an ACL injury. They expect him to be back by mid-April, as well. But the problem is that by the time he returns, it might be too late. The season could already be out of hand. And with Profar gone, it just got more difficult.

With the Dodgers up next, they better start praying for a miracle. With the Braves already limping through the season, this latest blow feels less like bad luck and more like a cosmic joke. Losing key players is one thing, but losing them to scandal? That’s a whole new level of disaster. If Atlanta doesn’t right the ship soon, they won’t just be battling the Dodgers—they’ll be battling irrelevance.

What’s your perspective on:

With Profar's scandal, are the Braves doomed to irrelevance this season?

Jesse Chavez: The Atlanta Braves boomerang arm returns yet again

Some players sign long-term deals. Others bounce between teams. And then there’s Jesse Chavez—a man who defies roster moves like a magician pulling the same rabbit out of a hat. At 40, he’s back where he always seems to end up, proving once again that Atlanta’s bullpen isn’t complete without its most reliable frequent flyer.

For the 6th time since 2021, Chavez has been called up after facing some injuries in the pitching rotation. The 40-year-old ace is very well known for his variation, versatility, and confidence in the bullpen. With some injuries to Joe Jimenez and Royber Salinas, the Braves will be relying on Chavez to deliver some good innings.

He has also received praise from analysts and insiders. One insider pointed out that “Chavez may not be flashy, but he always delivers when Atlanta needs him.” And this is the time Atlanta needs him. With his reliable arm, the Braves will be looking to make up for lost games. Chavez may not be the Braves’ long-term solution, but he’s their go-to quick fix—like duct tape for a leaky bullpen.
