Can the Dodgers handle the heat, or are the Mets about to pull a Red Sox-style comeback?

When the 5x World Series champion talks, everybody should listen! Derek Jeter has proven time and again this postseason that he knows what the October games are all about. Plenty of his predictions have come true, proving that he is indeed Mr. November, even if not in playing from the mound. He had predicted ahead of Game 3 of the NCLS that the LA Dodgers would win the game against the New York Mets, and what do you know—it came true!

That’s not all. Recently, he predicted that if the Mets needed to march forward, they needed Pete Alonso to step up the game. And voila, Alonso not only stepped but stumped all over the Dodgers and clenched the Mets their ticket to Game 6. Till now, Derek Jeter has been pretty accurate—spot on, to be honest. And now he has another warning, this time for the Dodgers. Well, we hope the LA team is listening!

Derek Jeter warned the LA Dodgers that any shift of momentum at this point of the game can be dangerous. This was concerning their fresh loss to the New York Mets at the NCLS Game 5. In Derek Jeter’s words, “When you have the chance to finish the deal, you finish the deal. You need to win when you have the chance.” Jeter advised the high stakes that the Dodgers need to now face.

And Captain Clutch even backed his advice up with his own experience, recalling the 2004 ALCS. There was an incident where Kevin Millar was mouthing, “Don’t let us win this game” during the practice sessions. And well, by then the Yankees had a 3-0 lead over the Boston Red Sox, so they didn’t pay much heed. But the New York Yankees had to watch that lead slip away in one of the most stunning comebacks the sport has ever seen. The Red Sox won four straight games and became the first team in MLB to come back to the position with such a deficit. Plus, the Red Sox won the World Series too!

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Dodgers handle the heat, or are the Mets about to pull a Red Sox-style comeback?

Have an interesting take?

What Derek Jeter meant to say is that they were in the prime position to close the series. However, they couldn’t seize that chance. Boston had a shift in momentum, and that changed the entire narrative. Los Angeles Dodgers sure must take notice of this because the Mets bats are coming alive.

The New York Mets bats finally are coming alive!

The Mets’ bats have roared back to life! After their crushing 10-2 loss in Game 4 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, it seemed like everyone had counted the New York Mets out. The Dodgers were just one game away from securing their spot in the World Series. Surely, they wouldn’t let that slip away, right? But Pete Alonso and the Mets had other plans. In a stunning 12-6 victory, the Mets reminded everyone that they’re far from done.

In the very first inning of Game 5, Alonso sent shockwaves through the stadium with a monstrous 432-foot homer, blasting it deep into the stands. Just like that, the Mets jumped to a 3-0 lead, and the momentum shifted in their favor. But that was just the beginning. The Mets kept the pressure on, hammering hit after hit with no strikeouts in the first four innings. By the time “My Girl” echoed through the stadium, Francisco Lindor stepped up to the plate, driving in a run and setting the stage for Alonso to keep the magic going.

Starling Marte followed up with a sharp double, and Lindor kept the energy soaring with a thrilling triple. Then there was Brandon Nimmo, who added his own brilliance, widening the gap to 8-1. The crowd was electric, grooving to the music and the relentless crack of the Mets’ bats. Meanwhile, David Peterson, despite a few shaky moments, gave a solid performance on the mound, doing just enough to hold the Dodgers at bay. Even attempts by Andy Pages and Mookie Betts to revive LA’s chances couldn’t stop the bleeding for the Dodgers.

Now, with Game 6 looming, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Mets have clawed their way back into the series, and as Derek Jeter warned, they could be gearing up for a Red Sox-esque comeback. Will the Mets keep this momentum rolling and pull off the impossible? Or will the Dodgers shut the door on their hopes? Let us know your thoughts—this series is far from over!
