MLB occupies a unique position in sports as one of the oldest and most historically rich leagues, making it a highly beloved and successful global entity. Although many teams have played a part in this glory, the name of the New York Yankees stands out. The Bronx-based team has been the most successful team, with 27 WS titles. But the situation has not been kind to them lately, especially after moving to the new stadium. Given they have won a single title after their move, it raises some questions. Toronto Blue Jays coach Don Mattingly, who played is a former reflected on the same recently.
While recalling his time as a Yankee, the 62-year-old shared his thoughts on what made the past special. Mattingly’s thoughts make sense, as the Yankees have not won a single time in over a decade. This also raises the question: Did the Yankees forget their best after moving to a new stadium?

During his latest visit to the Bronx as a coach of the Toronto Blue Jays, Mattingly shared, “The noise was different, and the energy was really good there. And I think all your memories, right? Coming up as a young player out of the minor leagues, walking through the tunnel of the dugout and seeing the stadium.”
The 2020 NL Manager of the Year added, “I don’t think I’ll ever forget, is, the feel of that playoff game in ’95 running onto the field and the place was just electric, and it was just so much fun. The energy in that building was incredible.”
These statements were surprising after Don’s current team almost shut the door for the playoffs for his former team. But his words reflected his love for the Yankees and brought up a question: What is the reason behind Pinstripes’ latest struggles?
Is the Change Behind the Yankees’ Championship Draught?
The underlying concept behind each new progression is to build upon the existing foundation. The same was behind the Yankees’ move to the new stadium. Although they won a championship win in the first season, the story has been different since then. The Yanks have been WS winless since 2009. Even after spending second highest in the league, they are unlikely to participate in the playoffs, all due to their latest losses.
