The 2023 AL MVP, as fate would have it, is set to join the Dodgers in their blue and white colors starting in 2024, marking a significant change. Yet, not everything will undergo a transformation, all thanks to the few constants whose relevance will only increase in the upcoming season.

When it comes to the MLB, there are thousands of admirers of Shohei Ohtani. But given his low-key nature, only a few have been able to know the player closely. It includes Ippei Mizuhara, who has been with Ohtani since his MLB debut with the Angels, not as only an interpreter but also as a friend.

Although the start of it was all due to the professional setup, it has grown stronger, turning into a friendship beyond the field. The two-way superstar’s special request is a testament to it.

According to Ken Rosenthal, “Per source, Shohei Ohtani’s contract with the Dodgers states, “Player will donate to club charity amount not to exceed 1 percent.” Also gives him suite at Dodger Stadium for all regular and post-season games and provides for interpreter.”

It possesses a distinctive and exquisite quality of the bond between the two. Nevertheless, its essence lies in the mutual respect that fosters seamless collaboration, akin to a synchronized team, every day of the year.

An Understanding Beyond the Professional Setup All Around the Year

Though the job of Ippei Mizuhara is to help Ohtani express in from the media, his work does not end even in the off-season. According to MLB, Mizuhara expressed his job as an all-year affair. He said, “I am with him all offseason too. I am with him 365 days a year.”

That’s why the two have become more than partners, and Ohtani also values it. Even though the Dodgers have become his new home, the two-time MVP wants to ensure that does not change anything for Mizuhara and has included the clause.
