It has been a postseason filled with challenges, brawls, and multiple controversies. So far, the American League Championship Series matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros has been a high-profile, close contest. The Lone Star battle is poised for a grand conclusion, with neither team wanting to give an inch to the other. With Game 6 going the Ranger’s way, the series is tied at 3-3 with only one game remaining. The stakes are at an all-time high as the Astros find themselves in contention for another World Series appearance. However, in the midst of all the drama, Astros fans have noticed a rather peculiar pattern.
This strange pattern has led to Astros supporters scratching their heads despite all the tension and close games. Surprisingly, it doesn’t involve any player or the referees. Instead, it’s a political figure whose visits to Minute Maid Park always seem to bring bad luck to the Astros.
Houston Astros and the ‘Ted Cruz Curse’

Ted Cruz, the US Senator from Texas, is known for his polarizing stance on various issues. He has found himself in the midst of multiple political issues and controversies throughout his political career. But even Cruz himself would not have expected to see him land up in a situation like this. It might sound anywhere from funny to unfortunate, but Ted Cruz seems to carry a negative effect when he attends Astros postseason games.

A self-professed Houston fan, Cruz, makes it a point to attend games whenever he can along with his family. But that doesn’t seem to be going well for the team of his choice as all four playoff games Cruz has watched at the Astros’ home ground have ended in defeat for the Astros. This has established an unfortunate but unmistakable trend.
Astros suffered defeat at the hands of the Rangers during the first two ALCS Games, and the recently concluded Game 6 as well, and all those games had one thing in common- Cruz was in attendance.
This strange coincidence is especially intriguing for a team on the verge of making another World Series appearance. They need all the luck coming their way and certainly, Cruz isn’t helping. With this being public knowledge, the Astros fans don’t seem too pleased with the Senator.
Astros fans are not happy
In the event of the Game 6 defeat, the Astros fanbase must have been disheartened, but this recent coincidence has apparently given them another way to blow off some steam as many didn’t seem particularly happy with Cruz’s presence as one fan remarked:
ohmygosh- DOES HE EVER STAY HOME????

The belief in the curse seemed all the more widespread, as another fan also reiterated the same emotion:
Did we ever win when he was around? Even last season, I think we lost and he was there 😓

Some fans were certainly hoping the Senator must be stopped from attending the games, another fan who also seemed to be of a similar opinion, commented:
SOMEONE TELL HIM TO NOT COME TO THE DAMN GAMES

Several fans seemed to remember the time Cruz went on a family vacation to Cancun in the middle of a storm in Texas, which led to a political debacle. One of them said:
I’m offering him a prepaid trip to Cancun if he will agree to not attend tomorrow’s game.

But it was certainly not universal as some fans were also not willing to focus the blame on Cruz but on their team’s own lackluster performance as of late.

Come on, man, no excuses. The Astros have just plain sucked at home…all season. It’s pathetic and will be humiliating if they lose game 7, too.
