Who will stand up against the king of the MLB kingdom? It seems no one, and hence, the kingdom might get ruled by the same king again this year. Well, that’s what an insider feels about the Dodgers. The kind of off-season they had this year rocketed the Dodgers’ chance of getting back the World Series ring for the second consecutive year. However, the recent update from an insider reveals a shocking prediction for the Dodgers. The 1906 Cubs’ record of winning 116 games in a season is on the verge of being challenged! So, how are the Dodgers equipped to achieve something unimaginable?

The secret sauce behind the Dodgers’ winning formula is their ability to get the best and a robust farm system. Even with having a good pitching rotation with Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Glasnow, to name a few, they still landed Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki this year. “Nothing is enough” is the attitude that puts the Dodgers ahead of others. The Dodgers’ pitching squad looks so stacked that even after fielding Snell, Sasaki, Glasnow, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, they will still be left with the likes of Bobby Miller, Kershaw, and Dustin May!

Considering all these factors, MLB insider Sean Casey said, “If they stay healthy with that rotation, and how deep they are, and if that big three can stay healthy, I think they do win 104.” Yes, the Dodgers are predicted to win 104 games this season! Why not when the top two pitchers, Sasaki and Yamamoto, are predicted to have 150+ strikeouts this year? Who will support them? The likes of Shohei Ohtani, Tesocar Harnandez, and Freedie Freeman will keep the scoreboard running. Well, Ohtani plays a key role in getting an additional advantage for the Dodgers’ pitching rotation.

The Dodgers’ 5-man starting rotation with a twist

Initially, it was predicted that the Dodgers would go with a 6-man starting pitchers. However, now they are reportedly proceeding with a 5-man rotation. The 6-man rotation was planned to offer less workload to Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki. They are used to getting an extra day of rest in Japan. However, with a twist in the tale, they will have a five-man staff until Ohtani returns as a pitcher somewhere in May. Yes, Ohtani is scheduled to get back to the mound by May. He will then be added as the sixth pitcher. The updated two-way player rule of the MLB allows an extra benefit for the team.

Ohtani, being a two-way player, will not be considered among the total 13 pitchers in the team. Thus, with Ohtani at the sixth rotation, the Dodgers can have 8 players at the bullpen without compromising on their starting rotation. The Dodgers will play with a 14-man pitching squad, including Ohtani. This is an advantage that no other teams in the MLB have. However, the Tokyo Series on the 18th and 19th this month will offer a view of how much the Dodgers can perform on-field. Nevertheless, predicting a 104-win season is too bold to think about.

While the Dodgers are all favorites this year, the regular season will be interesting to watch and which teams are posing a challenge to them. Well, if any.
