Los Angeles is going through one of its worst wildfires in history, which has caused a massive damage of around $250 – $275 billion. With the loss of homes and property rising every day, those who are able have been stepping up to help and support the people in need. Clayton Kershaw, a star player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has come out with some news for the fans to help others in need.

Through his charity, Kershaw’s Challenge, the Dodgers star is encouraging community participation via an Amazon wishlist. He has helped with providing many basic essentials like wet wipes, toothbrushes, clothes for kids and adults, air purifiers, and many other essentials. These things will be filled in a truck and will be sent to the victims of the wildfires. With many of the people from the Dodgers organization suffering, this initiative by Kershaw and his family comes as a ray of sunshine in the darkness.

This initiative by Kershaw comes as a part of the larger setup by the Dodgers organization. The Dodgers teamed up with Fanatics and other LA franchises to release a new merch line called ‘LA Strong’. The money collected is a direct donation to the relief funds that help victims of this wildfire.

Kershaw’s Challenge has long been teaming with the Dodgers to help out in LA wherever possible, including funding nine Dodgers Dreamfields projects. The latest was funding an $850,000 project at Jim Thorpe Park in Sep. 2024, aimed at improving baseball facilities for kids to play at.

The 36-year-old pitcher has also helped out with activities like public readings at libraries and donating back-to-school supplies for kids in need. And he’s not the only LA star to help out those in need because of the wildfire.

While the season is still a few months away and each team gets into shape for it, taking time out for philanthropic reasons has been a priority. It’s not just the Dodgers, or the Angels, who have been contributing but other LA-based sports teams as well, and hopefully the affected areas can begin to rebuild soon.
